Whitbread Goldings Variety (w.g.v.) is very similar to other goldings but many of its characteristics are more robust. Its aroma is sometimes described as tobacco-like woody or rugged. W.g.v. provides a unique sweet fruit flavor and will give a mild clean bitterness to traditional ales. It is sometimes used to good effect as a distinctive dry hop.
