Also known as Escarole, this lettuce like plant has a sharper flavor with creamy center leaves forming a delicious mild flavored heart. It is ideal for late crops which can be harvested into the winter, as it is very cold hardy. Approximately 80 days to maturity. Very popular in Italian cuisine, it also adds flavor to salads. Our local Italian restaurants have been buying this variety from us for decades.
