Hops German Merkur Pellets 1 oz.

Merkur, also known as Hallertauer Merkur, is a high alpha bittering hop that originated from the Hull Hops Research Institute in Germany. This hop was introduced to the brewing world in 2000 and is recognized for its dual-purpose capabilities. While it's primarily known for its bittering potential, Merkur is not just about that. It boasts a rich content of myrcene and humulene oils, which impart an earthy foundation complemented by a citrusy zing. This makes it particularly effective when used in the early to mid-stages of brewing. The hop's lineage can be traced back to Magnum, as Merkur is a direct descendant of this hop variety. Its genetic makeup is a cross between Magnum and a German experimental variety, 81/8/13. When it comes to its aroma profile, Merkur is quite versatile, offering notes of citrus, herbal elements, sweet aromatic nuances, and tropical hints. This hop is suitable for a range of beer styles, including IPAs, Lagers, Belgian Ales, Pilsners, and Stouts, making it a...

Hops German Northern Brewer Hop Pellets 1oz

Breeding/Development: Germany. An offspring of Brewer’s Gold with some ancestry from an American wild hop, this English-bred high alpha variety later found favor and acreage all over the world. In Germany it’s known primarily as a bittering hop. Brewing Application: Dual purpose. German-grown Northern Brewer has a more “noble” and less pungent profile than when grown elsewhere, which makes it suited to a variety of traditional European styles where a strong or “American” hop signature may not be appropriate - German lagers, Belgian and Trappist ales, farmhouse-style beers. Sensory: Predominantly spicy with an undercurrent of woods and wild fruit, suggestive of its Brewer’s Gold parentage. Overall balanced with lasting flavor that reads as simply “hoppy” - not as outright woodsy and bright as US-grown Northern Brewer.
