Columbus / Tomahawk / Zeus is a relatively new variety becoming increasingly accepted. Used for bittering mainly good flavor. Ipa's pale ales and stouts. Alpha acid: 12.9 - 15.0% Bittering hop with a pungent citrus flavor. Typical brewing style: us ipa, us pale ale, stout, barley wine, and lager. Possible substitution: Chinook, Galena, or Nugget. These three super high alpha varieties are often grouped together and referred to as CTZ. Each of these varieties has alpha acid content of  between 14.5-16.5% and share the same female parent as Nugget. Originally bred for their high alpha value, they have also become popular for their oil profile.
